The Falklands Museum

This web site is an introduction to a project to establish the first comprehensive online history and Interactive Museum about the Falklands, Malvinas in Argentina, and the War and events of 1982.

The Falklands War was to dominate the news for a whole year in 1982 and has gone on to be a part of peoples lives ever since. The World watched as first Argentina invaded the Falklands, then the largest task force the UK had ever assembled for such a lengthy journey, set sail to take back the Islands.

1982 returned to the United Kingdom a true sense of pride in her Armed Forces, and was to see a radical re-think on the structure and the plans already in place, to scale down the Royal Navy.

In Argentina the build up to the Invasion and the Politics involved were to be the death knell of a regime, which had seen torture and persecution as a way of life in the country for many years. The end of the war saw the end of the regime, and the Argentinean people though they saw the surrender in the Malvinas, in some way became winners in the political stakes.

The Falklands War will remain a major part of History, and needs to be remembered and its part in history recorded and available for all to see and understand.

The aim is to present a fully interactive web site that will contain the most comprehensive pictorial view of the War. We hope that the idea is received for what it is intended to be, a complete view of 1982. The aim will be to show it from all sides. Whilst we know that some will feel that this is not right and we should tell one side only, this would not be a true and accurate account, so we hope you will accept this is being compiled to show a true account.
We hope that it is supported at all levels and in all countries concerned.

1982 is very important for so many people and is a major part of recent history. We should look to ensure this piece of history is allowed to be explored in depth, and more importantly to help document the lives of those who gave so much and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

I believe this project will provide a great resource for generations to come, by providing an interactive experience and a factual historical reference point.

I hope you will help to make this a huge success and fully support the project, its aims and goals.
